  Upper arm or wrist?

  Blood pressure can be measured on the upper arm or wrist. As various tests have shown, the measurement results are just as reliable when measured on the wrist as on the upper arm. However, for the more vulnerable, such as older people, smokers and patients with cardiac arrhythmia and diabetes, an upper arm blood pressure monitor is recommended.

  Measure correctly on the upper arm:

   

  • Measurement at the same time of day if possible
  • Take five minutes rest before measuring
  • Use sitting or lying down
  • Attach the cuff at heart level
  • Do not move or speak during the measurement
  • Keep your arm still
  • Do not measure several times in a row to protect the vessels
