Makeup Remover

Micellar water is consistently the gentlest makeup remover option — it uses mild surfactant molecules that attract and lift makeup and impurities without rubbing, rinsing, or irritating ingredients. Bioderma Sensibio H2O (micellar water) is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and widely recommended by dermatologists. Always use a damp cotton pad and press gently rather than rubbing to minimise irritation.

Waterproof mascara requires an oil-based or bi-phase (oil + water) eye makeup remover — water-based removers cannot dissolve waterproof formulas effectively, leading to rubbing that causes lash breakage. Soak a cotton pad with bi-phase remover, press gently over closed lashes for 20–30 seconds to dissolve the mascara, then slide downward (do not rub). This dissolving approach rather than mechanical rubbing prevents lash damage.

A cleansing balm is a solid or semi-solid oil-based cleanser that melts on contact with skin — the oils dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and sebum effectively. Apply a small amount to dry hands and massage over dry face in circular motions for 30–60 seconds. The balm emulsifies when water is added — rinse thoroughly, then follow with a water-based second cleanser. Cleansing balms are excellent for heavy, full-coverage, or long-wearing makeup removal.

Makeup remover wipes are convenient for travel or emergency use but are not recommended as your primary daily makeup removal method. Studies show wipes rarely remove 100% of makeup and sunscreen — residue is often left behind. They can also cause skin irritation from repeated mechanical rubbing and from preservatives in the wipe formula. Use wipes when needed, but follow with proper cleansing for thorough nightly skin care.
