FiveOaks Firewood is kiln dried to reduce moisture and remove impurities making it the perfect cooking wood. All of our boxes of wood have been neatly stacked, maximizing the amount of wood you receive in every purchase. Kiln drying leaves the natural wood sugars intact which gives that great campfire flavor. It does not produce a lot of smoke, it burns more cleanly than seasoned wood, and the high temperatures of the kiln cleanses it of impurities making it safe for cooking. Our firewood is sourced from state forester managed timber in Northwest PA. What does that mean? The states require the stewardship of their lands by certified foresters who cut down trees for the health of the forest. In addition to our firewood being ethically and sustainably sourced, the kilns used to dry our firewood are fueled with virgin waste wood vs the more common and less environmentally friendly fossil fuels. We source the virgin waste wood from local sawmills who can't make use of the lumber cast-offs.
