Psychology today is considered one of the most prominent independent fields within the human sciences, after having long been a branch of philosophy. Since establishing itself as a distinct discipline, it has witnessed remarkable progress, with numerous theories reshaping our understanding of humanity. Despite this development, the Arab world still lacks sufficient references that keep pace with such advances. This work seeks to bridge part of that gap by offering readers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to psychoanalysis. The author’s style is marked by clarity, presenting complex psychological concepts in a simplified manner, avoiding terminology that may be difficult for non-specialist readers. The book relies primarily on the ideas of the Freudian school of psychoanalysis, while also addressing certain controversial points—such as the view that sexual desire is the primary driving force behind all human emotions. The author discusses some of the criticisms directed at these ideas in an effort to provide a balanced perspective. This work aims to help readers understand the psychological factors underlying nervous and mental disorders, and to demonstrate how psychoanalysis can be used as a tool for addressing these challenges.
