Everyone experiences constipation occasionally after a large fatty meal , uncomfortable, embarrassing and a real damper on life.
SEKEM Laxative Herbs enhances peristaltic movement and supports proper waste elimination. The laxative effect is due to the presence of Senna.
The presence of of Chamomile and Licorice in our SEKEM Laxative Herbs has an anti-spasmodic effect. Fennel, Coriander oil, Chamomile and Anise counteract the gripping effect of Senna. SEKEM Laxative Herbs is carminative due to the action of Fennel, Anise, Dill and Coriander.
Indications
Chronic constipation - Pre and post-operative preparations Preparation for radio-diagnosis - Anal fissure, haemorrhoids and hernia
Dosage
Put a filter-bag of SEKEM Laxative Herbs in 150 ml of boiling water. Allow to steep for 3-5 minutes and sweeten according to favorable taste. Drink 1-2 times / day.
Contraindication
Should not be taken by anyone with a known allergy to any of the constituents. Should not be taken during pregnancy and lactation. Should not be taken by children below 12 years. Should not be taken in cases of cholestatic liver disorders, liver cirrhosis, arrhythmias, hypertension, diabetes, severe renal insufficiency and intestinal obstruction.
Side effects
May cause diarrhea for infants when used by lactating mothers. Possible allergic reactions have been observed in rare cases. Anthraquinones may cause redness of the urine
Precautions - Drug interactions
Due to Licorice as one of the contents; should not be used for a prolonged period of time, except under medical supervision. Due to Licorice content avoid concomitant use with: contraceptives, corticosteroids, diuretics and digoxin. Caution is advised if anti-coagulants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO Is) are used concomitantly.
