The most complex attribute is the trap’s lure mechanism and placement strategy. Pheromone-based traps rely on specific attractants to lure flies, while sticky or light traps depend on physical capture methods. Correct placement—away from human activity yet near breeding grounds—maximizes effectiveness. Durability and material choice (plastic, metal, or composite) also influence performance in outdoor conditions.

Use pheromone or sticky traps in barns, warehouses, and kitchens where flies congregate around waste or food sources. Light traps are more suitable for enclosed spaces like sheds or garages. For outdoor areas, position traps away from seating areas but near potential fly breeding sites to intercept them before they reach people. Combine different trap types to create a layered defense against flies.

Regularly inspect and replace sticky traps that exceed their capture capacity or become dirty. Empty and reset pheromone-based traps according to the product’s guidance, ensuring attractants remain within their effective period.
